4 new Fine Art Papers obtain Digigraphie® certification

Recognising that artists & professional photographers require a variety of media to produce or archive their work, Epson introduces four new fine art papers. Independently tested and approved for Epson's Digigraphie programme, the new papers, Hot Press Bright, Hot Press Natural, Cold Press Bright and Cold Press Natural, are optimised for use with Epson UltraChrome ink technology. The papers are available in a wide range of sizes through Epson resellers since November, starting with Cut sheets in A3+ and A2 , with rolls available early 2010.

Frans Craandijk, Senior Product Manager, Epson Europe, said:

"These Digigraphie-certified photo and museum grade papers are inspired by the craftsmanship of artisans who developed the world's first watercolour papers, and they are pressed using traditional 'mould-made' methods. This enables artists to achieve a highly original look and feel with richer blacks, smoother tonal transitions and an expanded colour gamut.

The new fine art media range from Epson includes a 330gsm Hot Press Natural paper that provides a smooth surface, and a 340gsm Cold Press Natural paper that offers a textured surface, with both featuring a warm white point that will produce a museum grade finish. Hot Press Bright and Cold Press Bright papers offer a bright white point that will remain classic for years to come.

It envisions primarily photographic practice as a game. Balance, calm tension between revelation and obstruction, public space and privacy... Treasure hunt as well by capturing it and there clues that lead us to the intuition that "something wrong", his works function as so many puzzles unsolved.

FetArt Collection- Guillaume Amat

LA COLLECTION propose us for next 2 months photographies signed by FetArt artists, on a unique edition of 75 copies. It´s a unique opportunity to purchase with exclusivity a Digigraphie® artwork on an affordable price from a promising artist, supported by the FetArt association.

This time LA COLLECTION will propose « Nébuleuse - Laura » by Guillaume Amat

In April 2007 in a padded silence, the sea disappeared, as evaporated, leaving up to the ghosts of stone. These remnants of the Second World War, the Blockhouse, slowly digested by the tides become as threatening shelters amidst an unknown desert.

«The "Nebula" project is part of a reflection on the question of the heritage of the Second World War, the French coastline and its conservation. Under a photographical proposal I seek to account for mixtures and often conflict between the human hand and the hand of nature»

Women & Women exhibition in Washington D.C.

With the ocassion of Spanish Presidence of the European Union first 6 months on 2010, Spanish Government, among other activities, will exhibit on their embassy in Washington D.C. (USA) the photographic exposition "Women & Women", with work from some of the top names on Photography in Spain, all women. The exhibition is being curated by Blanca Berlín (www.blancaberlingaleria.com)

All work is produced on Digigraphie® by the certified Lab Taller Digigrafico (Spain), on Epson Ultramooth Fine Art Paper, Epson Traditional Photo Paper and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, specifically chosen by the artists.

"Why Women & Women? Because, shunning the temptation to appeal to affirmative action, the best contemporary Spanish photography is, in large measure, the work of women.

We have featured in this exhibition these five photographers due to the indisputable quality and innovation of their work and their international recognition. The proposed theme, Women, is presented from perspectives and insights that are quite different:

Isabel Muñoz, in coherence with her very unique and personal creative universe, explores the smooth and fascinating forms of the female body, mid- course between representation and abstraction, while the photographs of Gabriela Grech lead us into a dream- like world, where the superposition of images acts as a metaphor for mental and emotional confusion.

Using the body as an limitless source of creation, the self- portraits of Soledad Córdoba spring from the deepest unconsciousness and suggest a reality paradoxically unreal, magical, premonitory... Unreal as the disturbing visage selected by Beatriz Moreno, androgynous, perplexed, from which she has eliminated all traces of shadow or volume.

Ouka Leele, through her gaudy colors and an undeniable personal imagery, does not hesitate to pose as a "Mater Dolorosa" to recreate a metaphysical fiction, at the same time as she intimates us with daily realities rich in symbolism. In any case, we have also strived to make evident the effort that Spain does in favour of gender equality. Blanca Berlín, Curator."

Landscape: The Eternal Return by José María Mellado

José María Mellado is nowadays one of the key photographers in Spain, and among the first to use Digigraphie® technique on his large format prints. He is presenting to us his new exhibition, "Landscape: The Eternal Return" , hosted in one of the most relevant cultural centers near Madrid.

The passionate search of beauty in what may seemingly be banal, anodyne or decadent, is another keystone that helps build this artist statement.

Eager to convey the lived feelings to the spectator with the most possible complexity and fidelity, Mellado has carried in-depth investigations for the last years in the field of digital capture, treatment and output. The careful selection of the media and the printing technique allow for the dissolution of the thin line that separates photography from hyperrealistic painting.

You may find more information on José María Mellado work on the following link.

New frame for Digigraphie® canvas artwork

To facilitate the mounting of your Digigraphie® printed on Canvas materials like the Water Resistant Matte Canvas from Epson or the Artist Canvas from Canson, Epson will like to propose you a new accesory, very simplete to use, solid and and resistant: YouFrame.

It's a clever and trendy system to present your printed artwork. The print can be made with or without margins depending on whether you want to dress the edges around the final image or leave it blank. Then, just attach an internal framework, delivered as a kit and in five minutes is ready to be displayed.

How does it work ?

10 different formats are available, between 23 and 112 cm long, which allow a huge amont of frame combinations that give you the possibility to print your artwork on multiple different sizes. Just order the bars that you need!

To give you an example, to create a canvas mounting of 30 x 40 cm, you should order the following items:

- 2 bars of 12'' : 3,5 € x 2 = 7 €
- 2 bars of 16'' : 4,7 € x 2 = 9,4 €
- 4 tension bars (to fix the frame): 1,5 € = 17,9 €

You can print your Digigraphie images to be mounted on this frame structure using the available templates (Photoshop PSD) provided by You Frame on their website, or use an adapted version of Mirage Premium edition (Plug-in) that defines the final print (including cutting marks) automatically.
